In August of 2012, South Korea implemented the Special Adoption Act, which was intended to limit the number of international adoptions. The law prioritizes domestic adoptions, and requires all intercountry adoptions to be approved by the family courts. It is likely that other changes will be made to South Korea’s adoption policies in the near future, but no announcements have been made. For more information, visit www.adoption.state.gov.
