  • Profile: Both boys and girls, infants through older children, are available.
  • Parent Ages: Prospective adoptive parents must be at least 20 years older than the child.
  • Family Status: Married couples and singles may adopt.
  • Travel: Both parents must travel. Length of stay is approximately 1 week.
  • Timeline: About 12 to 24 months from completion of paperwork to birthparent match or referral. From match or referral to travel, about 4 to 6 months.

Parents from the U.S. adopted 282 children from Taiwan in FY2010. The Children's Bureau under the Ministry of the Interior handles adoptions in Taiwan. Parents are required to complete post-adoption reports for five years. Taiwan is not a member of the Hague Adoption Convention.
